Categories of Server

In the client / server back-end server manages data resources that stores, retrieves, and protects data. The server examines the data requests and, if necessary, generates and sends data requests to other servers. Server developed the concept that organizations need to share expensive devices such as laser printers, CD-ROM, and fax machines.

The six types of servers are:

1. File

2. Request

3. Data

4. Calculate

5. Database

File Server:

File server to handle the work of the Group’s applications and files, so they can be divided into groups. They attract large amounts of data from its storage subsystems and transmits data from the network. When the data file is required, the file server transmits all the data files and the size of the customer. Customer chooses or records (based on query criteria) who received, or download the entire file and its index in memory, then on it. File servers require many connections, and place high-capacity high-speed disk subsystem.

Application Server:

An application server is a machine that serves as a replacement lot. When applications fell from a host, one option is to install applications on a smaller machine that runs the same software and connect all users of the new box. This process does not require any modification of software applications based on the host. For client / server applications that are classified as host-based, the host is a server-based client GUI.

Server Data:

A data server is based on the data and used only for storage and data management. A data server is used in combination with a server to load and can be used by more than one computer server. A data server does not perform any processing logic applications. The process performed in a data server based on the rules of procedure, such as data validation is required as part of the data management function.

Compute Server

That customer requests for data to a server database and sends the results of these client requests. Computing servers can execute application logic on the results of the necessary data before transmitting data to the client. Compute servers require processors with high performance capabilities and large amounts of memory, but relatively little capacity disk subsystem and throughput.

Database Server:

This is the most typical use of server technology in client / server applications. Most if not all, of the program on the client. Database server accepts requests for data, obtains data from its database and sends the query results to the client. Calculate the work of the server with data servers provide the same functionality.
